Can Foreigners Own Property In Thailand?

Foreigners cannot own freehold land in Thailand but can own buildings on the land. Foreigners can own 49% of a condo freehold.

Can I Get A Mortgage In Thailand?

Most foreigners cannot get a mortgage in Thailand with the exception of permanent residents or forigners with work permits that can show steady income and tax payments.

Thailand has a number of fees including stamp duty, witholding tax, specific business tax, and transfer tax. The formula is complicated and is based on the assessed value of the property at the land department.

Can I Register A Long Term Lease On Thai Land?

Currently 30 years is the longest lease that can be legally registered but Thai authorities have indicated this legislation could change to allow longer leases to be registered in the near future.

What Are Brokers Commission Rates In Thailand?

Generally 5% is normal but can vary depending on factors such as premiums on new home sales and discounts on large land tracks.

Has Property In Thailand Performed Well As An Investment?

Land has seen the best returns over the last 30 years but luxury villas have also done well. Resale condos and mid priced homes have historically seen less returns.
